Who We Are

Peters Cognitive Billing LLC is a mental health provider’s medical billing company located in Texas with clients several southern states. Established in 2017 by the owner, Brittany Peters, who has over a decade of experience in medical billing and managing a mental health clinic.

The need for mental health billing services was clearly shown as the business so far has grown from referrals. We are a family based company. We plan on continuing to grow with the aid of the experience of Brittany Peters and the talented members of Peters Cognitive Billing LLC. Ms. Peters is responsible for credentialing, contracting and claim status. We provide credentialing and contracting for Medicaid and Medicare. Please meet the rest of the team below.

Sue Dewan is a retired Salvation Army Officer with a background in pastoral counseling and psychology as a long-time disaster responder responsible for volunteer and staff care. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. With thirty years of experience as a pastoral counselor and a Salvation Army Officer she was quick to learn the terminology and coding. Sue and her husband have two children and one grandchild. Sue is responsible for following up on claims and everything that goes into making sure providers receive payment for their services.

Bobby Browne is also a retired college English instructor who has lived all over the United States but considers Ohio home.  Her hobby is genealogy research for family and friends.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a love of learning. She reads every chance she gets, mostly history, science, and mysteries. As the grandmother to Brittany Peters, she is quick witted and has the capability to adapt to new rules and regulations set by the insurance companies. Bobby is responsible for verifying benefits and EAP authorizations.

Michelle Middleton graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. She and her husband have two daughters and two spoiled dogs. She still enjoys painting, as well as helping people through the business. Michelle’s experience includes being a corporate liaison where she was responsible for shipping invoices, cash handling and reconciling, to Human Resources. She has other managerial experience where she learned to be detail oriented and a multi-tasker. She aims to bring trustworthy and precise assistance to our clients to give them the peace of mind and freedom that allows them space to care for their patients and grow their businesses. Michelle is responsible for verification of benefits and EAPs.


We collectively know how insurance at times can be challenging to work with. We work very hard and take pride in giving peace of mind to the mental health providers and to your clients. We do our part to help mental health providers so they can help others.
